License to Carry

Today I received my Concealed Carry License. In one way, the License is only recognizing the right every organism has to defend itself (assuming there is a right to live). Of course it also affirms the US Constitution, 2A. In another way, it is a victory over the Brady bunch.

These are the people who say, "guns murder", and "gun violence", etc. The Bradys' irrational sayings are like maggots on garbage.

Since they prohibit self-defense, the Bradys have blood on their hands. Oh Bradys, what will you say to the ghosts of those you disarmed?

Those who teach against self-defense can do so only because we are protecting their right to free speech. If you refuse self-defense, remember that pacifists are protected by gun owners.

In the highest way, the License means that I now take my place as an armed citizen, authorized to defend myself against predatory attack; to defend another person(s) as if I were "in their shoes"; and to assist others in defending themselves or third parties. FL 790.06, 776 et al.

This is a bright day.

Reason is the true light, coming into the world. Yet people hide in the shadows of fantasies and fables.

The light of truth has come with brightness; there will be no more darkness but only light. Then all people will be enlightened, knowing the truth.

Keep and Bear Arms

The United States Constitution protects my right to self defense. The Second Amendment (2A) reads,

A well-regulated militia/ being necessary to the security of a free state,/ the right of the people to keep and bear arms/ shall not be infringed.

What excellent English! What great sentence structure! Note that the the four specific points are distinct, separable by slashes. I could write an essay on this amendment, but other issues need my attention.

It is well that the Constitution, 2A, respects my right to defend myself (and civilization), because so many irrational people are trying to take it away. The Brady bunch, whose main website is here

I know whereof I speak. I was assaulted by three young black men, who jumped me from behind, outside my apartment one night in April 2007. These "gangstas" fortunately did not know their business very well, or they would have kicked me while I was down, instead of beating me on the back with their skinny fists.

This attack would not happen today. First of all, I carry myself differently, and I watch my surroundings. I make myself a "hard target" for predators anywhere. If they insist on being stupid, and attack me anyway, I will stop them.

I will stop them in such a way that they will not attack anyone else. For I will defend not only myself, but by law I may defend others from attack. Really, 2A is about defending civilization.

Now even before the Constitution, or perhaps underlying it, is our natural right to self defense.

Since

1. all animals defend themselves (if they want to live), and since

2. firearms are the most effective self defense, then

3. all law-abiding people should be able to bear firearms.

There is no other way about it: keeping and bearing firearms is an essential right. Guns are logical. "Gun control" is, a priori, irrational.

In fact, the necessity of self defense implies that defense of others may be not a right, but a duty. It is our/my duty to protect civilization, when there is a direct threat.

This ironically means protecting those who would deny my right to defend myself. In other words: nasty, redneck gunslingers like me protect progressive folks like the Brady bunch. "Irony" is not hard enough. Tres jolie...

what religion does to children

These are Amina and Sarah Said. On 1 Jan 2008, their father, Yaser Said, shot both of them to death. He then escaped into Dar-al-Islam, the world of Islam.

Apparently the girls were becoming too Westernized. In particular, they were showing interest in non-Muslim boys. So this righteous Muslim, who had apparently abused them sexually already, decided to murder them. In Islamic circles, this is called "honor killing".

This is what religion, whether Islamic or Christian or Judaic or whatever, does to children. It circumcises them; it spanks them (which as a Christian I also did); it teaches them primitive myths as absolute truth, and warns of terrible punishment if the children do not believe; finally it teaches them to prefer faith over science or reason. Sometimes, as with the Said sisters, it even kills them outright.

Indeed, the list of religion's crimes against children is almost endless. What then is the positive value of religion for children? It can and sometimes does teach compassion and caring for the poor and sick, but these values can be taught more clearly without God in the way.

Anything religion can positively do for children, for example establishing a sense of obligation to others, can better be done by humanistic teaching. Humanism is centered on human rights, not the righteousness of a supposed God.

I repeat that there is nothing religion can do to help children, that cannot better be done by secular, humanistic teaching. Given that religion exposes children to hideous abuses, even causing their deaths, it becomes apparent that religion is often nothing more than sanctified child abuse.

Because They Took My Movie

Unreason is the root of all evil. Whether it is war, poverty, crime, environmental degradation, or personal emotional trauma, evil arises from irrationality.

The cure for evil is reason, and particularly science: drawing logical conclusions from the facts of nature. There is nothing, no problem of human making, and few problems of nature's making, that cannot be solved or at least ameliorated by reasoning and the application of science.

This bright message, the photeinangelion, is the word of reason. It is the true light, coming into a dark world. The light will pierce the darkness, until there is no darkness but only light.

Once I had a god, a soul, and lifetimes to spare; now I have no gods, no soul, and this life only. Once I imagined fairies at the bottom of the garden; now I see the garden clearly, and it is beautiful more than I can describe. Now my only creed is data locuta causa finita, and it is more than enough to live by.

To you who read this, I ask: try to live in the light of reason for five minutes. For this small fraction of an hour, make yourself god-free. Accept only data, facts of nature; and apply rational thinking to whatever comes to your attention. Now what do you see?

I would like to see the movie Creation. This is a major motion picture about a very major subject, evolution; it stars, among others, the lovely Jennifer Connelly; it has received rave reviews in the UK and Canada.

But I cannot find Creation in the USA, except for Boston, NY, and LA. Everywhere else, all across America, the movie is censored. Apparently the religious would not stand to hear this information, this confrontation between their cherished beliefs and scientific evidence. Too bad; I'm here and I am not going to be quiet.

After everything else they have done in the name of religion (and the list is long and ugly), they had to take my movie. After everything else, that is why I am writing this blog. I am writing Data Locuta as an antidote to the intellectual poison of irrationality: an inoculation against parasites of the mind.

Consider this blog an oasis of light, a spring of reason, where your mind may drink the clearest and purest water. I claim no special ability, nor do I have any advanced education. What I do have is an inexhaustible hunger for the truth: to know what really is.

If there is a better way to know what really is than through reason, through the application of scientific method, I wish someone would show me. There may be a superior way to know what really is, than through the rational mind. Of course, if you have a better way, you will have to prove it- you will have to use reason.
